Welcome to Des Moines’ East Village!

The East Village, located on the east side of downtown Des Moines, is a progressive, pedestrian friendly neighborhood that offers lots to do! This growing, eclectic area of the city features unique retail shops, restaurants and businesses. As one of the original commerce areas of Des Moines, the East Village encompasses some of Iowa’s most historically significant buildings, including the State Capitol.

More recently, the East Village appeals to a younger, creative group of people as a funky, functional, safe place to live, shop, and gather. With its restored historic properties, beautiful streetscape and urban living environment, the East Village is a hub of activity with annual festivals, street markets, a diverse bar scene, one-of-a-kind retail shopping and creative professionals who want to live downtown.
